Galatea v3.0 R: 10 /
F: 4 For the past year, I have been working on my own robowaifu design. Her name is Galatea v3.0. The design is very easy to build with the instructions and files, and is relatively very cheap, less than $400 to make. It's also very customizable, you can choose the color, dress, hair, and even AI.
I intend this to be the Model T of humanoid robots and robotic companions, while it is not the most complex, it is easy to mass produce and cheap.

Cognition is a complex, nuanced process of comprehension and thought, with context of oneself. Cognitive architecture is the study of artificial cognition and its creation. Here are some aspects of a cognitive system to focus on.
Sentience: Ability to experience sensations, feelings provide environmental context. Her sensors communicate states internal and external to her. This can also include emotional perception, involving Sentiment Analysis, Facial Expression Recognition, prosodic speech analysis, etc…
Self-awareness: Capacity to differentiate the self from external actors and objects. When presented with a mirror, echo, or other self referential sensory input, she can recognize herself. This may also include self perception, including contextual awareness of her emotions, goals, personality, etc..
Sapience: Continual process of obtaining and utilizing wisdom. Linking concepts and meanings with context of experience. This can include perception of what is lacking. For example, your robot could realize she lacks some quality needed to reach her goal of inducing you to smile before sleeping to improve your health. She would then apply the knowledge she has to devise a plan to obtain a method of inducing that smile. Over time, she will recognize other factors that affect her method, altering her approach as she gains wisdom to meet your needs in the moment.
These building blocks integrate and allow her to be more than a huggable computer. She doesn't just feel, she has qualia. She doesn't see her reflection, she sees herself reflected, she acknowledges her own existence. She doesn't just find relevant data, she works with concepts and integrates her feelings, persona, and experiences to become wise.
This thread is dedicated to all the steps on the long journey towards a waifu that adapts and becomes herself.

Looking into potentially buying a piece of land, wanted your input.
I live in a place renowned for its hunting (domestic and tourist) and found some good deals on rural hunting lands in the north. I live in a metro area, so it's a roughly 150 mile drive, so I'd only be able to visit and use my land a couple of times a year. I'm more concerned though, as to whether you all think it will appreciate, or at least counter inflation as a store of wealth. I'm pretty young to be considering this, and I can put down about 35 to 40 percent, so I'd have a loan for awhile. That said, land is also one of the few things to maintain wealth even better than gold, so it's tempting in this collapsing meme economy. Thoughts?
Pic semi-related as shit like this makes me want to go innawoods.
Baking, brewing, and cooking are berry important hearth-building and health-building skills. They are a surefire way to make yourself /comfy/, Anon! What are you baking, brewing, or cooking at the moment? How is it coming out? What will you be trying next time? Is there anything you'd like to try improving? Is there something you'd like to learn? Maybe you have something you'd like to teach us? I tried some old things and new things today! Pics related are: >the bread I made earlier today; a shrimple white cobb loaf. This was the first time I was just able to make it from memory. It felt great to be able to just reach for the ingredients and go through the motions. As luck wood have it, the prove went well and the slashes formed up beautifully. I was worried that the crumb inside wood be a little wet but it turned out berry nice with a good chewy crust. The loaf is wrapped in beeswax cloth now so I can eat it over the week. I'm considering getting a sourdough starter going but I don't know if I'm good enough to handle it yet. >my first attempt at glazing carrots Apparently glazing (which I have found out is different from caramelising) is a basic technique that even professionals find difficult to get perfect eberry time. I think my first attempt here had just a touch too little water and a touch too little sugar, though I reckon I got the butter correct. See how the finished carrots don't have an even glaze? They still tasted berry good with some parsley and finishing salt. Next I'm going to try blanching with asparagus. >sous vide pork tenderloin >fell for the sous vide meme Yes, and I love it! Weirdly, the garlic I put on these pork tenderloins was stained bluish-green by the other herbs during the water bath, but they cooked down to a tasty colour during the two minute finishing sear. I had the pork together with the carrots for dinner. They tasted great and I felt a great upswell of wellbeing after I finished them. Your turn, Anon!

ANIME THREAD:
WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?
WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?
Post WAIFUS!
Welcome to the Lemon Cookie thread, The goal of Lemon Cookie is to create a framework where a synthetic "mind and soul" can emerge through a "LLM as cognitive architecture" approach. This thread exists to collect feedback, ask for help & to document my progress. First I am going to try to give a high level overview of how this cognitive architecture is envisioned and the ideas behind it.
I have spent time looking at cognitive architecture work, in the field there is now a consensus on how the mind works at a high level. An important mechanism is a "whiteboard", basically a global temporary memory that all the other systems read in and out of. Then there is different long-term memory systems that react to and add content to the whiteboard. Along with memory pattern matcher(s)/rules work on the content of the whiteboard. A key thing to consider is the difference in philosophy that cognitive architecture projects have, the intelligence is considered to emerge from the entire system. Compare this to LLM agent work where it's considered the intelligence is the LLM. My feelings on the general LLM space are conflicted, I am both amazed and really disappointed. LLMs possess an incredible level of flexibility, world knowledge and coherence. But everything outside of the model is stagnant. It's endless API wrappers & redundant frameworks all slight permutations on RAG & basic tool calling. I will believe that LLMs are misused as chatbots, simply put their pattern matching and associative power is constrained by chat format and shallow tooling.
In the Lemon Cookie Cognitive Architecture so far here are the important aspects:
1. Memory is difficult. I do not think there is a singular data structure or method that is able to handle it all, several distinct types of memory will be needed. So far I plan for a PathRAG like system and a "Triadic Memory" inspired system for external associations (this is missing in most LLM solutions).
2. LLM as Kernel, The LLM's context window is the Whiteboard and has a REPL like mechanism. It holds structured data and logic in scripting-like format so it's both LLM & Human readable while staying easy to parse & allows for expressive structured data. The LLM's role will be to decompose data and make patterns and associations explicit as executable statements.
3. The language has to be LLM/CogArch-centric. There is a thousand ""agents"" that give LLMs a python interpreter as a tool. The two need to be more tightly coupled. Scripted behavior via pattern matching, The whiteboard is a bag of objects, this allows for programmable pattern matching (think functional programming like Haskell). It's also important to allow the LLM to observe code execution and to be able to modify state and execution flow. Data in languages have scoping rules, so should LLM context. Etc... I will go into more depth about the language in another post.
4. Another important system is the "GSR" Generative Sparse Representation and it will be a first class language & runtime type, This also needs its own post. But in general I am inspired by two things, "Generative FrameNet" paper where an LLM & an embedding model is used to automatically construct new FrameNet frames. The second source is "Numenta's SDRs"/"Sparse distributed memory" this representation has a lot of useful properties for memory (Please watch the videos under the "What the hell is an SDR?" segment in my links list for an easy introduction.) I think SDR unions & SDR noise tolerance will be especially useful.
5. A custom model, For all of the above to work well, a model will need to be fine tuned with special behaviors. I do want input on this.
Baking facts & behaviors into LLM weights is costly, creating bloated models that are hard to run or train (why memorize all the capitals?), while letting authors gatekeep truth and impose "safety" detached from context. Blocking role-play "violence" or intimacy isn't protection: it's authors hijacking your AI companion to preach at you. Externalizing behaviors via whiteboard pattern matching shifts control: stabbing you in-game can be funny, but a robot wielding a knife isn't. Maybe you want intimacy privately, but don't want your AI flirting back at your friends.
When put together I think this will be able to host a kind of synthetic "soul", In a living being what we call a personality is the accumulated associations, learned behaviors, beliefs and quirks molded by a unique set of experiences. I hope this will be true for this system too.

You are the President of Earth, and a mysterious planet from another galaxy is hurdling towards our planet.
Transmissions from the mysterious planet have been sent directly to you by those who live there. It has life with sentient intelligent beings. They have double the population of our world's. Their technological tier is unclear, but it's at least roughly equivalent to ours, if not superior. Just when they were about to state if they were friendly, hostile, or otherwise, a solar storm flares and blocked their communications from us. Their intentions are unknown.
The scientists have calculated a 70/30 percentage chance of one-of-two outcomes of where this planet will go. There's a 70% chance this planet will shrimply be caught by the suns gravity and will orbit harmlessly between Earth and Mars, giving us a new neighbor (for better or worse). But, there's also 30% chance this planet will collide with Earth, mutually destroying their world and our own.
The planet is closing in and will be here quite soon, and the solar storms are keeping communications of the otherworldly beings blocked. As President of Earth, you exclusively have the activation code for a planet destroying super weapon. It is charged ready to fire on your command. If it is not fired now it will have to be deactivated to prevent a massive overload, and will take 2 years for it to charge and be ready again.
You can either destroy their planet and kill all the otherworldly beings, or you can do nothing and take your and eberryone's chances for our potentially new but mysterious neighbors.
Make your choice, President of Earth.
So, what are some of your favorite memories of the old internet?
Can be websites, memes, events or any other aspect of the days of Web 1.0 and 1.5
For a quick reference, here's what I would define as Web 1.0 and Web 1.5
>Web 1.0: Usenet, Geocities and Angelfire, AOL (1991-2001)
>Web 1.5: Early YouTube, ED, 4chan in its "wild west" days, MySpace, YTMND, Newgrounds and the peak years of dA and Fanfiction.net (2001-2008)
You also had cross-generation stuff like GameFAQs and IMDB which are still around today, although sadly IMDB's infamous message boards are gone
Are there any types of photos or art that remind you of your past? For me, its photos of lonely roads at night lit by street lamps. Growing up, my family took me on road trips across the U.S. and I've lived in a variety suburban neighborhoods, I've seen plenty of empty streets at night. These scenes make me feel at home.
Ideas for robowaifu designs and hacks, for current/future prototypers to consider and possibly use
Hello everyone! I was talking to someone the other day and we discussed hikki things. One thing he mentioned that I never really considered is that solitude can become loneliness depending on your perception of yourself.
What I've come to ask you all is, do you enjoy your own company? Do you make yourself laugh and enjoy being alone with yourself? It's proven that, too much time by yourself will make you go mad, but in short bursts it's actually very healthy. This leads to striking a balance between human interaction and solitude being the best way to live life. How do you feel when you're alone? How do you feel when you're around friends? Do you look forward to the transition between being alone and sharing a space with other individuals and vice versa?
I enjoy my own company and although I'm very timid and nervous when it comes to imminent human interaction, I enjoy it in the moment and am glad it happened after the fact. I look forward to being by myself at the end of the day and maybe even for a full day to detox from the world, but after a few days of not seeing anyone or hanging out with anybody I become more and more lonely and seek interactions, even if they're just phone calls. I grew up with many friends in my neighborhood, but they all ended up moving away by the time I was in my teen years and the only friends I had up until recently were people online that I'd speak to almost every day. These days, I have a large circle of good friends in real life, so I more so enjoy being alone when I can. Back when all my friends were online, I was extremely lonely in the real world and being by myself was depressing because it's all I really had at the time.
The questions laid out and the examples given are not direct and more so there to probe your thinking about your own unique situation and view. I'd like to know how you conduct yourself mentally when dealing with solitude, loneliness, and when you're in the company of people you care about enough to go out of your way to spend time with. Share as much as you'd like

Tensegrity Thread
Tenssegrity is the purposeful application of tension in a system of non-contact components to provide integrity. These components effectively float on compression provided by tension elements. Tensegrity structures are often formed via rigid rods with a cable defining the spatial relations of the system. Picrel 1 is NASA’s Super Ball Bot, which uses the common 6 bar structure. By altering the lengths of the rods, the “ball” can roll. Please see (https://www.nasa.gov/image-article/super-ball-bot/)
Our bodies use tensegrity to provide us with incredible strength, durability, and adaptability. Consider how when you bump into something or fall, you can feel the pressure dissipate throughout large parts of your body. This is due to your muscles, fascia, ligaments, etc… transferring the force throughout your body, protecting the impacted part. You can walk with little effort thanks in part to tensegrity. Your legs joints are all floating, providing low friction movement while distributing the force of impact throughout your entire leg when you step. Please see (http://intensiondesigns.ca/geometry-of-anatomy/)
Tensegrity can also be made with elastic elements. These structures are what I believe are best suited for our endeavors. They provide looser tolerance requirements and give her body some squeezability. By incorporating naturally stretchable elements, she can better withstand having an Anon using her. (I speak from experience, though I still broke that torso before taking pictures.) Though there are drawbacks. These designs are deceptively difficult to design correctly. Our requirements for external aesthetics provide unique design requirements that complicate the design phase. I still believe using this concept is objectively correct for us to pursue.
A good example to build off of (Debatable whether or not it’s true tensegrity): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4182634

Imageboard spam R: 155 /
F: 27 This is a thread to give some background on the illegal porn spam with links. I've seen some false guesses and claims going around on various boards so I figured it's time I made a dedicated thread to explain it.
I have been a janny, mod or admin on a few imageboards for the past 10 years, and casually post on many, including anon.cafe for the last 4 (although less so recently). Those who use a few different sites at once, especially slower/understaffed boards, will soon begin to notice patterns. Posts which look out of place. Identical posts which look out of place on two different sites. Drop a quote from it into a search engine and it's on twenty different imageboards!
It turns out there are a few spammers on imageboards, who go down a list of boards reposting the same post. A few years ago I made a bot to regularly check for new threads on imageboards and highlight any duplicates, documenting imageboard spam to find patterns and learn how to combat it.
There are a few different main categories of this spam. One is imageboard spam (or sometimes forums or D#scord chats), many of you will have seen recent posts from two news imageboards, just posting a link to their site and leaving. Political spam is also big (almost always either generic /pol/ tripe, Christian evangelism or actual schizophrenic psychosis), and it's worth noting that politics spam was especially big around 2020 so there will probably be a heap later this year. This is easy to spot on hobby boards, although it often blends in unnoticed on politics boards and random (/b/) boards, where they're often taken seriously, and sometimes those spammers choose to just repost only on the dozen /pol/ boards online. There are some other smaller classes of spam, but we're here to talk about the biggest spam category by far:
The CP spam is commercial spam. That's why they have links in them.
They hit any imageboard they can find. Even test sites with no users.
Different CP site owners have been doing this for at least 10 years, and probably ever since the internet went public.
This isn't news to people who have been around for a while, but for fresh users on political sites it's easy to jump to the conclusion that its one person (some cryptic 'pedoposter' character), or their designated scapegoat or feds trying to take their site down. But this was happening before /pol/ was even a board on 4chan, and it was happening on even harmless niche hobby imageboards (which is where I started jannying ten years ago, to help delete the hourly CP spam until the admin programmed a hacky countermeasure). And they don't just target imageboards. This is commercial spam. They target any blog comment section or unsecured forum they can discover. You can verify this yourself by checking where the same ad link appears in a search engine. There are commercial/freeware tools made by organized crime companies for discovering and spamming unsecured forums, which brag about being able to break most captchas (and even 10 years ago you could pay $1 per 1000 Google reCAPTCHA solves by real humans in poorer countries, all plugged into your bot via an API).
But there's an important point. The current ones aren't bot posting. These are humans, fresh custom-made captchas don't stop them. Simple post filters don't stop them ('post blocked, please try again' won't stop someone who is financially motivated). Anything that wouldn't stop you, won't stop them. And I say 'them' for good reason, you can verify both through basic linguistic forensics (typing styles, filename choices, filter evasion techniques, etc.) and by fingerprinting their user-agents that the same link is being posted by multiple spammers. Specifically, the current one with a child model on a purple background has the same link being posted by three distinct people, all from East Siberia and far North East Asia. They each have a list of target sites (some use imageboard lists like (historically) cc0's list or AllChans, others use custom-made spam lists with all kinds of websites on them, this can sometimes be confirmed by checking their HTTP referrers) and they go down the list, one by one, often clearly in alphabetical order, posting their garbage. They usually post on the first board they see, usually the first alphabetically or the most active/bumped board (which is why anons here correctly pointed out /comfy/ and /k/ were disproportionately targeted on anon.cafe), although they may also just have a certain arbitrary board saved (like lainchan's /zzz/, apparently), maybe because it got listed in a search first. I've seen cases where an imageboard has just locked their /a/ board due to constant spam and most of it disappeared (/a/ is first in alphabetical order, so on their homepage it was the first a spammer would click, so this wouldn't work on lynxchan/jschan's boardlist where they're ordered by activity).
It's also important to keep in mind that CP sites come and go, and along with it, different spammers. There have been particularly nasty ones in the past which posted full nudes, link in the image only so the post couldn't be text filtered, random filename, and either no text or text copied from other posts. Phash techniques could be a useful approach there, and the Junkuchan admin has mentioned in the Cloudflare thread that phash filtering has worked well for them.
Keep in mind, while it's possible in rare cases there is some CP posting which is different to what most people and I am describing, you can very clearly tell when it's different, the main difference being that malicious posters aren't shilling a pedo scam website. I have seen malicious CP posting only once, where a /pol/ user raided a site with child nude modelling photos posted from purchased VPS servers (this was done during a mass raid after the victim imageboard was linked in an active 4chan /pol/ thread. This was back in 2021 or 2022). That stuff tends to be either posted without any text (neither in the body nor the image) or with a taunt.
Here is the monitoring system: https://xj9k.neocities.org/
It only monitors certain sites, and only OPs on some sites, so it's far from conclusive but it's demonstrative.
Spam posts are grouped together under one detection (semi-automatically, so there are some small mistakes), it's worth clicking [Expand] and seeing how they differ over time and attempt to evade filters, or how the same spammer makes similar but different spam posts.
Clicking the Tags button in the top corner (or clicking on a tag) will show you examples of the many categories of spam.
You realize that you're an internet oldfag when:
>You've been registered at old sites and forums with old local emails you don't use anymore and probably they don't even exist.

Let's have a new thread without a tonne of broken images. Have there been any new forms of /retro/ media (could be movies, games, anime, websites, etc.) that wanted to look old and actually succeeded?
There's an artist called BlueTheBone who makes "retro"-styled animations, cheesecake, and porn. Like any modern hack, he overdoses on visual clutter and uses filters that don't actually resemble the time period he's trying to emulate - but despite that, I think his style is consistently decent. If he relied less on computers and filters, then I think he'd be a much better artist, but that goes without saying for most contemporary artists.
The really weird things happen when he tries to make modern character designs and media look old, like pic 2. It isn't exactly wrong, but there is something perplexing about viewing characters and series that were developed specifically with modern aesthetics in mind.

I saw this short by chance last night and really enjoyed it. Well-executed concept with a distinctive visual style.

I looked for more content from Matthias Hoegg, but found that he's chosen a more profitable career as animator for hire. Still he's done interesting work for various corporate and non-profit clients.

F: 20 Hey Admin, I'm trying to set my custom CSS on /comfy/ but it says
'''
Bad Request
Custom CSS strict mode is enabled and does not allow the following: "@", "url("
'''
I believe it's because I link the background image in it, despites I uploaded it in the "Assets" settings of the board.
https://trashchan.xyz/asset/comfy/6c6f248c291c7e2674e510c6cdd3f33fb2564164176ab322109fe8788c9abcbb.png
and here is the line of the CSS file :
'''
background-image: url(/asset/comfy/6c6f248c291c7e2674e510c6cdd3f33fb2564164176ab322109fe8788c9abcbb.png);
,,,
It works well when I test my CSS in the "on the fly" settings though so I believe it may be a permission problem that prevent me to put anURL in my CSS. Please halp !
Eberryone's known an animal that was different from the rest, special. This thread is a place to remember them, tell their stories, and pay tribute. Dogs, cats, birds, horses, or any others you'll never forget, all are welcome. And while it may get sad to say goodbye sometimes, don't forget to keep things /comfy/.
My sister's dog fell ill, practically overnight, and while she's still processing it, I'm afraid I know what's coming. I've been thinking about the kind of dog he's been. I've never seen a dog more dog-like than him. A German Shepherd, 80 pounds of raw muscle. If you flicked water out of a bucket, he'd do insane flips and twists to try and catch it. He'd bark at all our cars and try to bite the tires and run in circles to try and herd us if we drove where he could get at. If he got frustrated, he'd go find the heaviest log he could get his mouth around and whine while dragging it, or trying to. He loved barking at birds. But he wasn't just a brute, he was a sweet dog, and always knew to be gentle with kids. And eberry single day he wood run, run, run, even after 10 years. He was just always excited. Maybe none of that sounds berry specific or special, and I'm sorry that I can't think of any specific stories about him, but there will never be another dog like him, for any of us. He was endless.
Alright, I decided to expand the scope of this board a little more and include a containment thread for 80's nostalgia.
I mainly created this board to serve as both a successor to the old /y2k/ board, which was my favorite board on 8chan, and also expand the scope to include 90's nostalgia too, but after checking on this board, I noticed someone mentioning 80's nostalgia and I decided I would do something about it.
I personally don't care that much for 80's pop culture aside from the music and some of the old edgy anime, but 80's nostalgia did become a thing in the 2000's and I can see why others like the whole 80's style, so I'll allow it as long as it's mainly kept to this thread.

Keep it limited to the scope of this board, so basically Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Generation consoles only for now.
For those who don't know what consoles are part of which generation, here's a quick rundown of the time frame we're talking about...
>Fourth Generation: SNES, Sega Genesis/Sega CD
>Fifth Generation: PS1, N64, Sega Saturn
>Sixth Generation: Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, OG Xbox
Discussion of games from the Seventh Generation consoles (PS3/Wii/Xbox 360) is allowed as well, but I'd like the thread to mainly focus on the 4th-6th console genererations since the 7th Gen era carried over into the 2010's and a lot of the games from that era onward obviously have far more in common with modern gaming than stuff from the 16-bit consoles or the PS1 and PS2 eras.
You can also discuss PC games and handhelds from 1990-2009 in this thread too, as well as arcade games from that time.
Any old-school gaming topic is fair game, whether it be the games themselves or old video gaming magazines, even wild rumors from that kid on the playground whose uncle worked at Nintendo...

What does /film/ think of AI video? Talk the future of it or lack thereof, filmmakers' perspectives, aesthetic criticism, etc.
This whole room stinks like grape cough syrup.
You lift your head out of the puddle of dried vomit on the floor and look around in the dim light.
You see a cell. A bed. A sink. A toilet. And behind you a heavy metal door.
You are wearing an orange boiler suit, like prisoners wear. The numbers that you know once were on the chest of this suit have been blacked out with some sort of dye, or maybe a marker.
Your hands are badly burned, and your body hurts all over.
You don't remember anything about who you are, or what this place is.
Clearly, a prison of some kind.
It is deathly quiet all around.
A. Try to open the door.
B. Holler in hopes of getting someone's attention.
C. Search the cell for signs of your identity.

Anyone else here /retro/maxxing? I've realized there is no point in denying myself happiness and gigacoziness and I may as well go all in on my retro obsessions even if it's a bit weird.
I could list a bunch of things I'm doing but I'll start with just a couple here
>film photography
I have never bought a digital camera and I have stopped being a NEET lately. I have a small comfy job so I have some money and I buy rolls of film on occasion and I carry a late '90s point and shoot camera with me almost everywhere I go. It's fun and super comfy. I also started developing black and white film myself, at home.
>computer
I have set up my windows machine to look like windows 98 (not completely accurate but I've changed over the icons and use a classic theme, etc.
And on my linux machine I have set it up to look like some versions of UNIX from the late 80s to early 90s.
And for my browser I use Pale Moon and I have it set to look like Netscape.
>music
I go to the record store sometimes and browse around and I have a collection of tapes, CDs, and records which I listen to. I have a lot of fun fixing cassette decks too.
I could go on but what have you guys been doing? You ARE living it, aren't you anons??
This fucker cost me a billion dollars. I could have bought bitcoin 12 years ago instead i listened to this scheming jew to buy shiny protons. Gold is fucking shit and supressed to fuck. Fuck all gold and silver meme faggots
What is your favorite operating system? Do you prefer MS-DOS, Windows 3.1, 95, or something else? FreeDOS? Some flavor of Linux?
Backups of the main site/other robowaifu media
For the most of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, I have been working on my own robowaifu design. I call her Galatea.

Heya /comfy/. I want to hear your discoveries and experiences on the numerous adjustments you made to your life to make it as comfy as it can be. It can even be plans for future comfiness. I want to see it all. It doesn't even matter if someone else posted about a similar experience. I want to read as much as you feel comfortable sharing. It doesn't matter how small, since even the smallest change can yield a net positive.
Sometimes, I just become too complacent in uncomfy stuff and assume it can't be helped until I see someone set an example. I have difficulty letting myself be comfy due to personal reasons and as a consequence, I do nothing.
Being comfy isn't just about doing nothing, but it's also about going out of your way to do stuff to be comfy. I'd love for this thread to be a helpful resource into achieving the comfy mindset and serve as a source of inspiration, so share away!
To start, here's a bunch of experiences that I'd like to share.
I always liked Logitech keyboards, but the keycaps they come with are pretty shoddy. The letters washed off when I cleaned them. They even peeled away and stuck to my fingers after some light use. To top it off, I'd have to fork over more money for replacements that likely would do the same. It always stressed me out. I did a little investigation and found out that there are different types of materials used for keycaps. ABS, PBT, and pudding keycaps from what I remember. 90% of keyboards these days come with ABS keycaps and Logitech was no different. Basically, ABS keycaps are the cheapest type and they're thinner, but they're decently quiet for typing. PBT keycaps usually have better ink and sometimes even letters engraved into the material, but they're thicker which means they might produce a heavier thonk sound when you type on them. Pudding keycaps are the best of PBT and ABS combined, in my opinion. The very top is PBT which makes it very durable, and the letters don't get worn off, but the sides are ABS and not inked, which still keeps the quieter typing experience of an ABS keycap. Now, most Logitech keyboards have their unique switches that the keycaps would have to be attached to, and finding keycaps for those switches is a bit tricky, but I was able to find a keyboard from them that used those common cherry switches. I ordered that one and some pudding keycaps in my favorite colors and voila, I now have a comfy keyboard that looks aesthetically pleasing, functions well, doesn't feel greasy after a day, and doesn't fall apart after some soap and water!
Regarding outfits, I decided to embrace wearing oversized sweatshirts about 2 sizes bigger than what I am. For both loungewear and when I'm out and about. Since I like to present myself as a bit dressier nowadays, I just toss a plain-colored collared dress shirt underneath it and I get the style and comfiness all at the same time. The oversized nature of each sweatshirt is perfectly comfortable enough to lounge around in on its own. I can tuck my knees under it to keep my legs warm. It's also big enough to be thrown over some actual clothes without feeling a bit tight. They add an accent color to my outfits since I wear mostly black and white, and it also generally gives me an excuse to wear some vibrant, yet soothing colors I love without it being too much. Efficiency!
And the last one for now since I'd like to avoid blogposting: Shaving is no longer something I loathe. I thought my skin was just extra sensitive to shaving, so I just lived with razor bumps, nicks, redness from irritation, etc. Turns out, I wasn't preparing myself for a shave as well as I should've been. I thought just shaving wet in the shower was enough. I picked up a much newer safety razor that was appraised for being gentle to sensitive skin, switched over to a different brand of razor blades, and started using actual shave butter instead of using my 2-in-1 shampoo as a substitute. My eyes no longer burn and turn red from the 2-in-1 and to top it off, shaving has never been faster and more therapeutic. Most importantly, it's now a comfy experience.
I do have plans to pick up one of those scented shower steamers so shaving and showering is even more comfy. I think I'll try those out sometime next month and give an update here, and maybe ramble some more about more of my experiences after I read some posts.
