Tensegrity Thread

Tenssegrity is the purposeful application of tension in a system of non-contact components to provide integrity. These components effectively float on compression provided by tension elements. Tensegrity structures are often formed via rigid rods with a cable defining the spatial relations of the system. Picrel 1 is NASA’s Super Ball Bot, which uses the common 6 bar structure. By altering the lengths of the rods, the “ball” can roll. Please see (https://www.nasa.gov/image-article/super-ball-bot/)
Our bodies use tensegrity to provide us with incredible strength, durability, and adaptability. Consider how when you bump into something or fall, you can feel the pressure dissipate throughout large parts of your body. This is due to your muscles, fascia, ligaments, etc… transferring the force throughout your body, protecting the impacted part. You can walk with little effort thanks in part to tensegrity. Your legs joints are all floating, providing low friction movement while distributing the force of impact throughout your entire leg when you step. Please see (http://intensiondesigns.ca/geometry-of-anatomy/)
Tensegrity can also be made with elastic elements. These structures are what I believe are best suited

>Slackening tension of support cables is a problem going back for many centuries (at least!) in the civil engineering & nautical worlds.
Now that I think of this, surely that 'Old Italian Dude', the inimitable Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci must have a solution for this. Anyone know if he had a re-tensioner system for his Mechanical Knight Bro? (Surely a precursor to Robowaifus if ever was. :^)

Hi chobitsu I m sorry that I don't know who that is. I am the newone posting uduki tsukasa on the other alog site and haven't used a user name yet.
Some offers zero creep polymer ropes but tbh i don't trust their claim. Tension is the necessary evil for all thing except masonry buildings. Maintenance on exposed soft sides is what bond building is all about. Ideally the actuator self adapts to lengthened wires, and if not the robot has its own hand to tighten it and docking station should make it easy.
Steel is probably the best wire. Piano tuning is seasonal only and probably due to temperature change. But don't get body parts caught in one and tempered carbon steel isn't the best against oxidation. (Just boil rust away)
The cylinder and spindle idea cpunds interesting. Can the cylinder be blow molded like soda bottles?
As for carbon, i think the best way to utilize them is making few layers graphene oxide by mixing graphite in milk whey protein in blender or magnetic stirbar for many hours, dry and adds that to any plastic/resin of at like .5% weight. Or be used as ink to print soft pcb

>Hi chobitsu I m sorry that I don't know who that is.
Just a Nihongo pronunciation of "Chobits", the mango/animu that created the board's mascot Chii (cf. >>495 ), who inspired me personally regarding the possibilities of robowaifus. That's all.

<--->

We tend to namefag here b/c as a (mostly-)consistent group of engineers, artists, etc., we can 'cut to the chase' (get to the main point) easier by getting to know one another as a community.
>tl;dr
Imagine working at a big engineering firm together where you yourself, and every.other.anon. in the building all have 50 First Dates [1] syndrome. Be pretty hard trying to get anything practical done in such a scenario. And stylometry only goes so far! Therefore by consensus our board culture uses namefagging, typically.

OTOH -- we are Anonymous, through & through. So yeah, it's a bit of a weird (and fun!) mix of many of us having a moniker, yet still absolutely maintaining the OG Anon mindset towards one another. Don't think I know of many other boards like us in that regard (and a few other regards, as well).

>ttl;dr
Use a name, or don't. Perfectly fine either way, Anon.

I miss the old internet, especially the parts I never got to experience. So instead of doomscrolling and letting the algorithm decide what I see, I’ve been spending some of my free time exploring what’s left of it.

It sucks seeing so many forums and imageboards fade away. Some are still accessible through Web Archive, like 420chan and Dreamchan, but a lot, like Late Nights, are just gone forever. Still, I’ve noticed small communities popping up again, which is awesome. We really need an internet built for people, not just for AI and inflated egos.

I miss how simple and full of substance things used to be, so I want to bring some of that back, and maybe even create something new. Even the new communities are lacking of something, it's like they are trying to emulate the aesthetics only (the ones I found until now)

so, anon, got any cool nostalgic websites to share?

Saw this one yesterday, pretty interesting. The person that made this is really creative.

In a way it just became the way real life always has been. You must always be careful and never speak or act "wrong" in public. Internet hasn't so much died as it was remade in the image of real life. Definitely not the best thing since sliced bread.

'You must always be careful and never speak or act "wrong" in public.

This is obvious, nobody here is talking about being free to post bad things online. Most of the times you can get in trouble for a bad joke in a private conversation, which is ridiculous because that wouldn't happen in real life It's not normal, A.I slop doesn't happen in real life, it's not normal. Hyper sexualized content wasn't too normal in real life too. You clearly didn't read everything people here are saying.
Anymore I just dial in, get what I need, then log out. Now that everything we post gets slurped up for AI training everywhere - even people I work with are eating this AI nonsense up (and they should know better, they lost thousands on turdcoins last hype cycle).
But not to be too much of a downer, real life is pretty great so I'll be spending my spring/summer outdoors!
But I do remember BBS access in the early 90's - video games on 386/486 PCs, finding out what anime was (Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road), colleges had the goods!
Regular message boards and personal web pages were neat in Web 1.0. My parents made me buy my own dial up account because I was a net junkie and using up all the hours.
Gnome darts was my favorite flash game, it vanished when Flash cycled out. Foamy / Ill Will Press was my jam for flash animation - they still have it on youtube but the new stuff looks like AI tinkering... plus I'm not in college anymore so it's probably not funny like when I was 21 and drunk.
I dunno, just glad I checked out on Web 2.0 for the most part - I don't have socials haunting me and the people I did interact with were the real deal. I'd almost argue the Facebook/Instagram era was even worse than the short form video and Discord push right now. I don't envy kids trying to navigate any of it though. It reminds me of when videogames and movies switched to CG 20+ years ago - it was ROUGH for a while there; yikes.

They really don't. The normalfag would say "speak english", or worse "speak american." Normalfags do not take easily to loanwords from Japan.
>I don't think so, and I don't think you really believe that, either, or you wouldn't be here.
Listen, I love this franchise, but there's an undeniable lack of budget and polish in these games that make most of them kusoge. As you play through the Re;Birth trilogy you will realize just how much this franchise relies on reusing assets. A game can be shitty and still be enjoyable, to a point. I say "especially" the spinoffs because most of them are to that point. They're not very enjoyable, contain very little of what makes the franchise so magical, and are too often just cynical cashgrabs. Some of them are alright but still have problems. I like 4GO a whole lot but I would never tell anyone it's good as a pure game.

Your definition of "normalfag" seems to be different from mine. I use the term to refer to not just outsiders to otaku culture, but also ones who try to enter niche spaces and blend in without truly grasping or appreciating what they're latching onto. I'm sure you've seen this a lot on Xitter. All the arguments with and about "tourists". I consider them another breed of normalfag.
>Listen, I love this franchise, but there's an undeniable lack of budget and polish in these games that make most of them kusoge.
Maybe I just have high tolerance for jank, but I find them simple, enjoyable JRPGs with a lovable cast of characters. And characters are one of the most important aspects of gaming, especially Japanese ones. They're part of the game, too, and should be factored into its overall judgment. I suppose I part from the "gameplay over all" fags on this, but I also really don't think Neptunia's gameplay is that bad.
>As you play through the Re;Birth trilogy you will realize just how much this franchise relies on reusing assets.
I've already realized. PS Dimension and Vida Dimension are literally the same dungeon. So is Halo Forest and Nekotouki Forest. Hell, I've even noticed little things like sound effects being reused across Compile Heart titles.

>Your definition of "normalfag" seems to be different from mine.
Apparently so. Mine is "a derogatory term for a normal, average person." Normalfags are bad for a hobby but for different reasons. They're passively harmful, they eat up any old shit without complaint as long as it doesn't stray too far from their comfort zones. You won't find those types on an anonymous image board. You'll find people adjacent to them, but actual normalfags steer clear of places where wrongthink and no-no words are commonplace.
>but I find them simple, enjoyable JRPGs with a lovable cast of characters.
That's what mainline Neptunia tends to be. And what do you know they're the least kusoge out of the group. There's still a lack of quality, but not enough to ruin the experience. The spinoffs, however, nearly always skimp on the characters, and the extra jank you get when they venture outside of the RPG genre just makes it worse. The most recent was just a handful of cutscenes, hardly anything substantial, attached to a really shitty driving game.
>I've already realized. PS Dimension and Vida Dimension are literally the same dungeon. So is Halo Forest and Nekotouki Forest. Hell, I've even noticed little things like sound effects being reused across Compile Heart titles.

Excellent! I was hoping you'd say that, Anon. I figured you were. :^)

Then I'll plan to try scaling/fitting my design mocks for hips & shoulders + actuators into it's volumes to see where I stand with your shell sculpt.
From >>355
A good lesson for the prototypers here, if you intend for your design to be replicated, make sure the third-party devices have multiple sellers, the more the better, so that if one goes down, your design isn't instantly impossible to build. Even then, you should have backup designs in case the exact model is not being sold anymore.
I learned that the hard way with a design in 2023, and with Galatea I have had it happen twice, once before Galatea v1 with the speaker, and recently with the Pleasure Unit, the latter because it had some other sellers, but not too many.
TL:DR, with third party devices in open source designs, make sure there are several sellers easily found, across multiple websites.

My words turned out to be prophetic, since these new Tariffs will raise the price of certain sources.

MaidCom0 is coming along well. The plan is for her shell to be 5 pieces that fit within 200mm^2 build plate area. Though, I could get it to 175mm^2 without her ass and tiddies. Everything else fits well within 175mm^2, so I'm considering making them add-ons.
To keep myself on track, she will be limited to the feature set of Femisapien scaled to 150cm with skates rather than walking. I find the limitation both frustrating and inspiring. My inner engineer always wants to push boundaries, but they're also why MaidCom is years behind schedule.

Welcome to the arena. Despair, ye who enter here. The arena is something of a venting thread. If you have beef with another anon or with a specific vtuber that is getting out-of-hand, you may have discussion moved to this thread. If you want to discuss negative or obtuse meta content of a vtuber such as a boyfriend fuck list or actual pictures of the actress, you must do it here, or on a different board/website.

This thread is still moderated, however rules 0 and 6 do not apply here. Have at each other to your heart's content. Please hide this thread by default if this is content you do not wish to see. I would hide it too, if I had the choice. If anon ever gets to the point where he's exclusively only lurking this thread, new rules may come up. At the end of the day, your oshi is a real girl. She may show gratitude and appreciate her fans, but she does not love you.

EDIT: As a reminder, please familiarize yourself with the Global Rules of anon.cafe as Romania has laws regarding unlawful violation of privacy and doxxing that this site is beholden to. Should you choose to personally investigate matters, you do so at your own risk. My legal take on this unless the site owner disagrees and corrects me, is that if the information was publicly available at one time, then it does not fall under the Romanian criminal code unl

It's 8moe, btw. It's not just /vt/ that went there, so the site's hardware has been struggling. Holos went to their tower, and are accommodating refugees for now if they play nice. Less than a day after the great migration all get hit with the Gura graduation announcement for their stress test. It was prophesied that Gura's graduation would break /vt/. Turns out 4chan would be broken hours before Gura's graduation. This is no 9/11, this is WW3, the 4chanmageddon.
Is /l/ even ready to take in just a fraction of the horde? So far /vt/ is liking 8moe's features and the holos the tower's moderation. The only pariah is /#/ and they are currently confined in a ghetto of a cyclical thread. I think the rules of /l/ render them incompatible here, and supposedly other sites have rejected them. Yes, they consider themselves ((( # ))) at this point, even seem to relish that comparison. At least the IDs are helping them weed out their worst, and would like to use this as proof that they aren't all that bad.

I'm just glad anons are getting enlightened to the superiority of altchan features. The only thing that was lacking was the number of users to reach critical mass. And if the numbers do grow, how even a vastly outnumbered moderator team can make a difference by just giving a fuck.

I've decided I'm done with this, no amount of color is going to fix the underlying problems and I took a break for way too long.
I've set a more reasonable goal for myself: get my art good enough to the point that I can make at least $1 off of it by the end of the year.

You are not going to merely draw from scratch, you are going to use reference because that's what literally everyone else does or has done before.
Here's Hirohiko Araki using reference while he draws
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qM2vHahcqQ
You don't have to be great to start but you have to start to ever be great. And yes that amateurish drawing is actually pretty cute, just draw inspiration from whatever you like too.
>>2048
The biggest advantage of tracing is that it allows you to break through problems that are stuck in your muscle memory. It can be very helpful, but I don't think it's that useful if it's the only thing you do.

Try copying a drawing without tracing first, and when it turns into an embarrassing failure, then start over and trace the drawing. That might help you develop an intuition for what the difference between yourself and the real drawing is and adjust yourself.

If you already expect that the first drawing will be bad and you'll be tracing a better version afterwards, it might be less scary.

>I posted in your other thread on another board
Yeah, I noticed, thanks! I really liked /beg/ and /fig/, and who knows how long it’ll take (if ever) for them to come back. The goal is to keep an anonymous, critique based art banter site. I’ve tried other sites, and honestly, not being anonymous and ephemeral really sucks.

About tracing, it’s just a tool. It’s great for finding proportions and angles when studying or when transferring your work to another medium, e.g., paper to canvas. If it's used to replicate finished art, I find it becomes too linear and lacks a real thinking process. When you draw organically, you jump all over the place, like starting with the chest and moving to the feet to keep the balance and proportions.

What I do is trace big shapes to analyze the work, in my example, check proportions then use that information to make a copy as fast as possible, compare it to the original, take notes, and do it again.

Keep up the good work, anon. Don’t get discouraged. I’d recommend drawing along with rodgon the artist. He streams, and his sessions are insightful and focused on quantity, you’ll get a lot of mileage.

I only got in through the second method from >>3654

Official recruitment/interviews are too much of a pain in the ass. I just grinded on one site with constant original uploads and kept (very occasionally) whining about not being able to access the upper tier sites on its forums.

Different guys took notice and I got in on all of em through user invites (except AVZ). Only when I got in did I realize that a huge portion of my original rips were posted to PTP by the person who'd ultimately invited me. Hey, not blaming the guy - if not for him, someone else would have.
Funny that this thread got bumped, to whoever anon invited me to KG: Sorry for the wait but i am finally finishing a couple of subtitles after several years playing dumb so mission accomplished :^), unironically thank you very much

>>3655
>reluctant about RED
I remember getting invited there time ago and it is tough to seed without a box, got kicked for inactivity despite seeding a bunch of torrents 12 hours a day. They give a lot of free tokens but they work you out, uploading stuff is also tricky because you will seed to 1.0 and someone else will box it out and ride on your stuff.
Funny that i bought a bunch of obscure CDs to upload right before getting kicked out.

Because of what i (and i suspect we) consume i think KG usually has stuff more readily than PTP which i've constantly see is focused more on the mainstream rather than an artistic archive. If it isn't on the open then KG or HawkMenBlues has it, sadly the latter stopped uploading so it's a ticking bomb before a good chunk of it gets disappeared.
Sad to see re-uploads are a constant thing, i don't mind that much with music as i did that once upon a time, but for movies with custom subtitles that's a bitch.

I cooked some chicken.

2 chicken thighs
1 tbs oil
1/2 cup Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino
1 tsp soy sauce
~1/4 tsp salt
~1/2 tsp white sesame seeds
~1/2 tsp black sesame seeds

I first fetched a fresh bottle of Cocchi from the garden. With the aromatised wine in hand, I salted and browned the chicken thighs with the oil in a small pot. After browning both sides of the thighs, I added the soy sauce and vermouth. Cocchi is extremely sweet and can easily be reduced into a syrup. The soy sauce helped balance things a bit to avoid creating chicken candy. I covered the pot loosely and allowed it to simmer until the chicken reached a safe temperature. Durring the simmering process, I flipped the chicken in the cooking liquid eberry few minutes to ensure the sugary concoction coated eberrything. After removing the chicken, I further reduced the uncovered liquids for about 3 minutes. The thighs were topped with the sauce and sprinkled with white and black sesame seeds.

Its shown in Meganep that ever since nepgears interactions with ultra dimension vert and allegedly getting molested by pluty:
<onee-chan I can't get married anymore
That nepgear on the whole is more of a degenerate pervert. She literally encouraged Rom and Ram to aggressively grope Uni in a bath in Meganep. That being said like you said before it is likely only for certain situations. Honestly wasn't really a fan of this part of the game, perhaps I am reading to into it.
>That kind of goes against the concept of the HDD forms to start with
Well in the OVA a young neptunes pseudo-HDD form is different to her more recent form. Perhaps maybe instead of changing physically you might be able to show a more mature change in Rom and Ram by showcasing them being more mature acting in their HDD forms.

I don't think Nepgear is a pervert, more so that she was "raised" by Neptune who thinks being perverted is really funny and spends lots of time around Vert, who definitely is.
In any case, since I started this discussion I'll say that what I want to see is how they react to situations that require them to be mature when Blanc isn't there to cover their asses, and whether or not they know if they'll never really grow, I feel like that could be interesting.

That would be strange if it was limited to just their HDD. As I said, the whole thing with the goddesses' HDD forms is that they emphasize certain aspects of their personalities that are already there. If you limit Rom and Ram's "growth" to their HDD forms, it creates a disconnect.

Having a reputation doesn't systematically lead to the cancer that plagues modern social media, as evidenced by the pre-2010 web on forums, warez scenes, etc.

It's my personal opinion that it is the reputation that prevents people online from trolling and cacaposting all the time as is the case on most (though not all) anonymous communities. Maybe you see a different explanation ? I'd love to get your perspective on that, I'm tempted to think you're not totally against forms of reputation since you seem to find merit in namehobging.

I've always thought we need to have an entrepreneur mindset, even if we don't directly sell designs. After all, our "customers" decide to invest in materials to build our designs because they want to exchange that money for a robowaifu. It's like an outsourced IKEA. And while we don't recieve direct profit (which is good, so we don't get greedy), we do want more and more people to have robowaifus and see the benefits of our products, so we advertise our products.

I see it like the rise of PCs. You have a few anons doing it as a hobby, but real adoption will come from a cheap, easy to use, and multipurpose machine. The """masses""" will also need to be gently educated on the benefits of our designs, just like what was done with early PCs. One of my advertising vectors is basically

I'm thinking that the PR model line for SPUD -what with mark I just being a screenface with easily moddable code- could resemble an icon of personal computing. The only problem is this particular model is has parts 30x20cm (oh yeah and apple suing my ass) :D

Components for SPUD-PR-01 would just be a raspi, a screen, a 3d printed housing (subject to change) and a microphone. Would be pretty cheap to package into pre-assembled kit with installation instructions like those pi-less robot kits folks sell online.
