I have an idea. It's likely an incredibly foolish and demanding idea, but bear with me.

Our genre has been around for over half a century at this point, if not older. In all that time, we've seen the collective publishing of hundreds of manga, anime, and light novels. A fair number of them made it into English and are loved for it. However, many more have not. For this I propose a project, possibly in cooperation with /animu/ and /japan/ maybe even /a/, that project's aim being to track down and possibly translate obscure /mecha/ manga that is out of print and/or never made it out of Moonland. Pic related. Interested?

I love this idea though. However most translators on this site are on /animu/ and I'm not sure if they are up to the task given their own projects.

So we have a confirmed nearby source of translators,, even if they have an uncertain availability. Good. How easy are they to contact?

They have scanlation threads on /animu/.
However they are working on Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu, Number Girl and World of Moral Reversal, so I doubt their availability.

Then we talk and wait. It's not like the things we want to hunt will sink into nothing.
In the meantime, we might want to start compiling a list of options.
Perhaps it can work like this:
>/japan/ hunts for hard copies
>sidenote, any relevant contact they can make with futaba/2ch fags would be welcome
>/mecha/ hunts for files and prioritizes manga
>/animu/ translates
Who's going to read this shit? Lets be honest about it. Obscure manga is obscure for a reason and popular /mecha/ mangas get abandoned constantly. If you were translating photonovels and build fighters mangas I could understand but this shit is doomed to end up on managfox and never get read.

Neat idea but why bother?

>Obscure manga is obscure for a reason
That's not always true, there's plenty of obscure works from all mediums that are obscure for a variety of reasons. From little marketing to limited releases.
*plenty of good works

>who
Isn't it obvious? Us, and any other /m/ sorts we choose to share them with. Plus, The Big O is fairly well-liked in the community, so it's a good jump-off point for the other works.

There's like 10 of us here and how many want to read random mangas from the 80s?

There's a bunch of good interesting stuff not being touched as I said. Would be better off digging up that.

Got any titles?

Any of the build divers mangas. And the 2nd build fighters manga which is a full tournament story featuring the Zaku amazing.

Any of the photo novels other than sentinel.

I see. What's a photo novel?

Can we do Lost Memory, though?

Photo novels are novels with supporting images for the text. They use model kits and usually get released in modeling magazines. Bandai released 1 online fully translated on their website recently.
Fuuuuuck, we need something to get us going again after the old BO left.
