Do you think we'll be rid of the IFtard after this? I wasn't inclined to be too hostile to him at first. I thought of him like a jester or class clown of sorts, the guy who's just there so everyone can trash on and make fun of him. But I started getting much more frustrated with him when he started attacking Blanc with the "she's gay for Plutia" shtick. He even outright called her ugly at one point. But the whole "gay for Plutia" thing bugs me the most because playing through Re;Birth 3, I can see that someone putting on the goggles and setting them to maximum can possibly see something there. She joins with a Lily Rank of 4 with Plutia compared to the default 2, and the game jokes a couple times about how she seems compete with N**re for Plutia's attention. It's honestly gnawing at me a bit.

No.

I don't like it, either, but you can't let it gnaw at you. That's what the IF schizo wants. He wants to ruin Blanc for us, so we'll stop admiring her and stop posting about her. His endgame is everyone must post about his headcanon version of IF and talk about how lucky he is to be with her. At least, that's what I'm convinced. He's even convent to reply to himself alone in his own general if the mods would let him get away with it.

You can always fight fire with fire like some of the other posters do. Oftentimes by posting IF being gay. Which at least has some canon basis.

Blanc never shows any signs of romantic affection towards Plutia. No blushing or nervousness or getting flustered, absolutely nothing. And she's totally capable of those emotional responses, don't you dare try and claim she's just hiding it. I think the most telling is when chapter 4 opens up and she's just as bewildered as anyone else that Plutia suddenly had kids. I think if she were romantically interested, she'd have shown some jealousy or even pain. Which tells me that she draws lines between friendship and romance and that Plutia is firmly on the "friendship" side of things. Her lily rank starts out high because Plutia was there for her at her lowest point. The mark of a true friend. I know Ploot expressed ulterior motives, but have you noticed she never went through with them?

Damn, you really think? He hasn't followed us here, and if he was as attached to /nepgen/ as he seemed to be, I think he would have. There's a chance he may show up again if 4Chan and /vg/ revive, but considering that and all the other things, do you REALLY want to go back there?
>And she's totally capable of those emotional responses, don't you dare try and claim she's just hiding it.
I doubt I ever would. Blanc is not like Noire who in typical tsundere fashion dances around what she really wants to say (to the point where Plutia had to stick her boot up her ass to make her say it at one point). Blanc is very honest, direct and to the point. Which is one of the many things I like about her. I'm a firm advocate of saying what you mean and tend to get frustrated in real life when people don't.
>I know Ploot expressed ulterior motives, but have you noticed she never went through with them?
I called that she wouldn't go through with them the moment she said them. Truth be told, Iris Heart tongue-lashing Blanc at her lowest and calling her a crybaby (when SHE is partially responsible for her entire predicament) was probably the only time in the game where I actually almost got mad at her like Noirefags and Gearfags tend to do. But considering everything she did for her after that, I choose to believe her intentions were genuine. In part, I think Plutia likes to "play a role" of sorts. She likes the intimidation factor that comes from her violent sadistic tendencies as Iris Heart. But everything about Plutia and what she does otherwise tells me she's good-hearted in spite of that. So I choose to believe she really did just want to help and befriend Blanc.

This site uses asterisks for spoilers, which caused me censoring Noire's name to accidentally spoiler half of my post.

I'll probably go back regardless, assuming it comes back. And I expect the schizo to return with it. As for why he hasn't followed us here, either ignorance or perhaps fear that new environs won't tolerate his shit. I think he's hinted about being booted from other Neptunia spaces before.

As for Plutia not following up on her motives, I personally think one of two things happened. Either she realized it was going way too far since Blanc isn't a bad person, or perhaps she's outright afraid of Blanc's likely reaction. She's not at rock bottom anymore, realistically if Iris Heart moved to hurt her, then she'd get the full brunt of an enraged White Heart without either Nep or Noire to help her. I will stand by my claim that chapter 3's events imply Blanc could 1v1 any of them and stomp when she's enraged.

I did not do the spoiler right.

Moot said "The problem with 4chan alternatives is that they're just 4chan but better." I.e, there's no culture to pull people towards it aside from a chunk of 4chan that shot off from the main branch so to speak. That's probably one of the things that makes sites like Sharty, Sturdy or KF actually have life. They have a culture that brings posters together.
You could say this place has that too (Neps) but the nep community is too small, as you no doubt already know.

I'll stick with believing that Plutia was genuine with her intentions regardless of what she said. I don't think Iris Heart is the type to really think about that kind of thing. She'd probably assume that because she beat White Heart before, she could do it again. She tends to get too into thinking about how she's going to "play" with her opponents to make calculated decisions like that.
>I'll probably go back regardless, assuming it comes back
I feel like you're saying you don't like this place. There's no 15-minute timer here (and that was especially an issue for me since I use a browser that automatically deletes all cookies upon closing, so every time I closed my browser, I had to go through the 15 minute wait again). There's no annoying schizos here (at least not yet), there's no out-of-touch asshole jannies to give Ny*m*ta posters a pass while banning you for lashing out at them, or even banning you for posting a console game CG. You can post up to five files per post here, in more formats to boot, with higher file size limits, you don't have to solve a captcha every time you post, VPNs aren't blocked, etc etc. Now that you know, why go back?
>>7570
But now there IS something to pull people towards altchans, and it just happened. You could claim ignorance as an excuse before, but now you have no real excuse. Besides, I think there's a good chance 4Chan won't come back.

I think the near standoff when she fought WH made her think twice. Too tired to resist arrest sounds like too tired to for any punishing. Either way I feel like Plutia had to at least come to the conclusion at one point that Blanc is just as dangerous as she is.
>I feel like you're saying you don't like this place.
As many pros as you've listed, and you can argue this is a pro in of itself, but this board is just real secluded. We've struggled with dead hours on /vg/ many times... although I suppose you might consider it moot since we're hardly in any danger of falling off the catalogue to begin with. Seclusion is indeed a good thing in many ways, especially for a niche interest like ours. I believe I've already said that one of the things I liked about /nepgen/ was its relative seclusion relative to the rest of the site and resulting comfy posterbase where I don't have to fight off normgroid assholes complaining about "weeb kusoge/shovelware" or "pedoshit" like on /v/. We're also in no danger of falling off any board here as we ARE the board, unlike on /vg/ where I did see /nepgen/ fall off the catalog at least once and have to be remade. And if we want new users, I can do "recruitment drives" sort of like what I'm doing now.

It was a damn good convenience. Anyways I'm telling you, no one who uses "kusoge" is a normalfag. They're just the same brand of picky and vitriolic that /v/ always is. Although Neptunia is still kusoge. Especially the spinoffs.

They really don't. The normalfag would say "speak english", or worse "speak american." Normalfags do not take easily to loanwords from Japan.
>I don't think so, and I don't think you really believe that, either, or you wouldn't be here.
Listen, I love this franchise, but there's an undeniable lack of budget and polish in these games that make most of them kusoge. As you play through the Re;Birth trilogy you will realize just how much this franchise relies on reusing assets. A game can be shitty and still be enjoyable, to a point. I say "especially" the spinoffs because most of them are to that point. They're not very enjoyable, contain very little of what makes the franchise so magical, and are too often just cynical cashgrabs. Some of them are alright but still have problems. I like 4GO a whole lot but I would never tell anyone it's good as a pure game.
>Mine currently stands at 1.15 GB, but that's just from the Blanc images I've saved since making it. I still haven't moved all the images from my ~17-18 GB unorganized Nep folder.

Your definition of "normalfag" seems to be different from mine. I use the term to refer to not just outsiders to otaku culture, but also ones who try to enter niche spaces and blend in without truly grasping or appreciating what they're latching onto. I'm sure you've seen this a lot on Xitter. All the arguments with and about "tourists". I consider them another breed of normalfag.
>Listen, I love this franchise, but there's an undeniable lack of budget and polish in these games that make most of them kusoge.
Maybe I just have high tolerance for jank, but I find them simple, enjoyable JRPGs with a lovable cast of characters. And characters are one of the most important aspects of gaming, especially Japanese ones. They're part of the game, too, and should be factored into its overall judgment. I suppose I part from the "gameplay over all" fags on this, but I also really don't think Neptunia's gameplay is that bad.
>As you play through the Re;Birth trilogy you will realize just how much this franchise relies on reusing assets.
I've already realized. PS Dimension and Vida Dimension are literally the same dungeon. So is Halo Forest and Nekotouki Forest. Hell, I've even noticed little things like sound effects being reused across Compile Heart titles.

>Your definition of "normalfag" seems to be different from mine.
Apparently so. Mine is "a derogatory term for a normal, average person." Normalfags are bad for a hobby but for different reasons. They're passively harmful, they eat up any old shit without complaint as long as it doesn't stray too far from their comfort zones. You won't find those types on an anonymous image board. You'll find people adjacent to them, but actual normalfags steer clear of places where wrongthink and no-no words are commonplace.
>but I find them simple, enjoyable JRPGs with a lovable cast of characters.
That's what mainline Neptunia tends to be. And what do you know they're the least kusoge out of the group. There's still a lack of quality, but not enough to ruin the experience. The spinoffs, however, nearly always skimp on the characters, and the extra jank you get when they venture outside of the RPG genre just makes it worse. The most recent was just a handful of cutscenes, hardly anything substantial, attached to a really shitty driving game.
>I've already realized. PS Dimension and Vida Dimension are literally the same dungeon. So is Halo Forest and Nekotouki Forest. Hell, I've even noticed little things like sound effects being reused across Compile Heart titles.
True, I forgot for a moment how extensive the asset reuse is across their IPs.

Well, it's not bad bad. There are some cute Blanc moments in it. But the whole thing was a really low effort affair and the entire premise fits a certain Lastation goddess a lot better. Almost like they had the idea ready to go and assume she'd top the polls again. Even the promo artwork features her more than Blanc herself.

If you can forget all that, you can have a fun time, but to me it just leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. Also, I don't like RE so I can't really appreciate the RE parody plot of Blanc's movie.

They really can't help themselves, can they? Even when said goddess kicks them in the face for no reason other than spite. They treat her with kid gloves even in spite of everything, but will they do the same with Blanc? They already had a Nepstation segment in Re;Birth 3 where they not so subtly mocked Nintendo for their 90s policies, and that was when they weren't on the wrong end of said policies. But of course when Soyny does it, it's "rAiSiNG StaNDaRDs". It does make me wonder how they're going to handle it in the next mainline, because there's no way they don't know by now.
>Also, I don't like RE so I can't really appreciate the RE parody plot of Blanc's movie
I do, or at least did. I played almost every Resident Evil game up to 4 when I was a teen. But I was so bad at most of them that I resorted to cheating. Especially Code Veronica, where I got stuck on the Tyrant fight on the airplane. The only one I think I beat normally was 4.

Devil's advocate here, but I think they just genuinely did not expect Blanc to win. It was a popularity poll, they said the winner would get a spinoff game. Noire had one the last one handily and had been the fandom favorite ever since. But then the fandom largely decided it was Blanc's turn for a spinoff and some IF faggots tried to stuff the ballot so hard that she got second place and that's how "that" game came to be. Literally a consolation prize.

And I'm sure CH will be cunts about it since NoA decided to go even harder than SIE. What a fucking nightmare. They really should just shut down NoA.

Survival Horror is just a genre that does not appeal to me at all. I haven't played any of them and have no desire to.

Maybe, or maybe it's the fact that it was the second popularity poll ever, and in the first Noire scored 1st and Blanc scored 7th. Remember how I said her arc in V rehabilitated her image? Well, both of these polls happened to have been held before and after V.

By and large, yes. Just look at how they approach trends.
They made a vtuber game when vtubers were getting more popular... but completely neglected giving any of the popular ones they got to work with any meaningful place within the story and completely forgot to shill their own vtuber (who I bet you don't even know exists).
Or look at how they decided that the future of Neptunia would be action based because it seemed like all big turn based JRPGs were becoming action... They tried it for two games and then said "nah next numbered game is turn based we swear".
Look at their other non-nep new games too, they just don't know what their fans want, I think.
Although if you're talking about Blanc only... uh idk Compa just loves Lastation exec dick too much maybe

That is not me you're replying to there, just so you know.
On V's Chapter 3, do you really think it was a good thing in the long run? Judging by what I've read, it marked an overall shift in her characterization across the franchise. I'm afraid I can't make a proper judgment on that yet since I haven't played HDN, but I definitely had a rather conflicted reaction to all of the events that make up her "arc" in Re;Birth 3.
>>7587
>Or look at how they decided that the future of Neptunia would be action based because it seemed like all big turn based JRPGs were becoming action
I'd like to think that they intended for that to be relegated to the spinoffs. But then again, apparently SvS's marketing was very confused as to whether it was supposed to be a spin-off or a mainline, probably because it was the first high-profile Neptunia game in a while.

>On V's Chapter 3, do you really think it was a good thing in the long run?
I think it's been a double edged sword. It's good that Blanc has remained relatively popular among fans, but at the same time it's attracted a lot of fans who don't appreciate her for who she is. The absolute worse is when she's put into the hands of incompetent writers who want to get the same effect as her arc in V without understanding any of the context. The two biggest offenders are in RB1 and the anime.

So, this was one of the parts of HDN that was completely re-written in the remake. In HDN a lot of Lowee's arc, when it wasn't concentrated on Neptune's efforts to befriend and placate Blanc, was focused on relations between the Guild which was a support organization for people who didn't worship the goddess of the nation they were born in, which were referred to as heretics, and the country at large. There was an extremist faction that tried to overthrow Blanc after she or her government so graciously took those heretics in as refugees after Leanbox tried to purge them IIRC.

RB1 decided to replace all of that with a fake Blanc. Even using the fake to explain the five seconds of initial hostility shown to Neptune's party. And then when Financier takes them to Blanc's inner circle to meet the real deal, Blanc ends up crying as she petitions help in reclaiming her nation. Completely and utterly unearned, not even close to the rock bottom situation she found herself in V. Absolutely out of character. The whole point of her arc in V was that Blanc was nearly unbreakable and you had to put her at absolute rock bottom just to get her to crack. And even in tears she was still ready to fight and resist to the bitter end.

I hate episode 2. What a dogshit story. I get that she cares about her sisters, but absolutely rolling over for mother fucking Abnes just so Neptune can have her stupid moment to swoop in and save her? Bull fucking shit. Once again, totally out of character, the writers just didn't understand her at all and just wanted to milk those tears and make the audience feel bad for her. Those are the most egregious examples of how chapter 3 negatively impacted Blanc, but thankfully it hasn't gotten quite that bad since. Her characterization in VII and SVS were both a lot more on point. I can buy Blanc showing her softer side to her sisters more, and I can buy her shedding tears after not seeing them for two whole years. And I can buy her completely giving up in the failed timeline where Arfoire possessed Rom. Although even her present day self chastised herself for being that "weak." Poor thing...

>But then again, apparently SvS's marketing was very confused as to whether it was supposed to be a spin-off or a mainline, probably because it was the first high-profile Neptunia game in a while.
It had a lot of effort put into it and the premise immediately placed it in the mainline continuity. But unfortunately the game kinda Sonic 06'd itself by the end from what I understand. And the game is just really dark for Neptunia. It gets more fucked up when you consider the possibility that UD likely hadn't experienced any time resets which is why the portal closed off to begin with. Imagine how much time has passed for UD while Future Maho repeatedly reset the timeline over the span of years.

But I digress. It seemed like CH wasn't terribly confident in the game so they branded it an "orthodox spinoff" in Japan, and even then that was kinda buried in a blog. I'm assuming "orthodox spinoff" means "it's in the main continuity, but it's still a spinoff."
