Welcome to the new /late/!

Latestation is BACK: https://letslovela.in/late/

Hey everyone.

What do you guys do before going to bed? Do you guys sleep well?

Personally I just shut down my pc and just go to sleep.

For me it takes time to actually start sleeping (usually an hour). I'll go to bed but after some time I'm just thinking my own thoughts and I can't fall asleep.

Time is a scary monster.
My daily prayers help me get a grasp on it but as soon as I open a book or start working on something or start thinking time just dips.

>What do you guys do before going to bed?
I turn off my PC and take medication. Sometimes, I work out. While in bed, I feel myself dip toward dreams as my mind wanders as a form of hypnagogia, so I try to think about pleasant or interesting things or nothing at all. It doesn't always work, and I have something like Exploding Head Syndrome when I feel myself going into dreams I know will be bad.
>Do you guys sleep well?
I only sleep well when I'm exhausted, drunk, sick, or injured. I think my bed is part of why I have this problem. I haven't had a consistently comfortable bed in years. I would be more comfortable sleeping on the ground or floor. When I wake up, I've forgotten who I am and feel free until I remember my responsibilities. With these responsibilities comes remembrance of who I am and what I have and done, and I'm suddenly pulled by a suffocating weight. At least my dreams are sometimes entertaining.
>I'm just thinking my own thoughts and I can't fall asleep
I have this issue when I'm on my back, yet I sleep best and have the most pleasant dreams when I'm tired enough to sleep that way.

can you tell me what you like about them ?
im not an avid reader so i just stick with tolkien, i love how heavy it is on the world building, it got several cool ages all in the same world

also every character seems to be written as an archetype that needs to mature and overcome some flaw
>bilbo needs to overcome fear in the hobbit, then greed in lotr
>merry needs to mature and learn to face consequence
>boromir needs to be in control of his unyellding loyalty to gondor so it doesn't tempt him to take the ring
>faramir needs to grow out of his brother's shadow by fighting a temptation that got the better of boromir
>elrond needs to accept change and be more trusting towards men
etc etc
it is so densely packed with symbolism and morality

What's your favorite music video at the moment and why?

mine is: https://youtu.be/SECVGN4Bsgg?si=4TUzmPq99H3KaeVU

I like how it shows his paranoia, the protagonist seems afraid of the outside world and wants to be left alone, possibly hinting at feelings of anxiety or mistrust.

Nice. Thanks for sharing.

This classic from my childhood. I was convinced they were real Natives, but I think it's a German production. Anyway, I love this record.

How does one get out of the house recreationally?
I love taking hikes and working out, but that's all I do. I need something else. I don't mind spending little money, but shopping gets stressful because I don't have a lot of space. My friends aren't in the area right now, and it's pretty tough to make any more when I don't leave the house. I don't drink and I don't particularly like boozers, so bars are off the table. Bands never come into my area, so concerts aren't viable. I've looked for stuff for ages, and come up with nothing.

When I was little bugs freaked me out so bad, so my mom got me to learn a bunch about insects and arachnids, and eventually the fear was replaced by curiosity and admiration.

I remember my brother chasing me around the house with a toy spider when I was pretty young and being freaked out. That was the first time I ever recall being scared of them. Even though he was doing it to frighten me and had no problem with them at the time, he soon developed a fear of bugs too. It's really weird.

You need to learn to casually socialize. No drink, that's cheating.
In the beginning just learn to strike up conversations at the park, in the bus, at the shop. This is something every child should learn, but schools and spoiled children permanently ruin it for some kids.
Not everyone will like you, and you need to learn to accept it. Some people won't have the time, some are autistic, but sometimes a quick casual interaction can make someone's day, at virtually no cost if you learn to make your peace with the fact that everyone in the world will want to befriend you.

Have you considered going to church ? To a library ?
A girl I knew in hs used to go to a shelter and volunteer to walk the dogs. The idea sounds unpleasant to me but it may suit you.

I just don't know anymore... I just don't know. Until inspiration strikes, I shall sip my tea and ponder why my nights are troubled. I do wish I lived in a safer town, I miss the 3 am walks - wonderful for clearing my head. The forums and IBs will have to suffice for now.

Hello everyone! I was talking to someone the other day and we discussed hikki things. One thing he mentioned that I never really considered is that solitude can become loneliness depending on your perception of yourself.

What I've come to ask you all is, do you enjoy your own company? Do you make yourself laugh and enjoy being alone with yourself? It's proven that, too much time by yourself will make you go mad, but in short bursts it's actually very healthy. This leads to striking a balance between human interaction and solitude being the best way to live life. How do you feel when you're alone? How do you feel when you're around friends? Do you look forward to the transition between being alone and sharing a space with other individuals and vice versa?

I enjoy my own company and although I'm very timid and nervous when it comes to imminent human interaction, I enjoy it in the moment and am glad it happened after the fact. I look forward to being by myself at the end of the day and maybe even for a full day to detox from the world, but after a few days of not seeing anyone or hanging out with anybody I become more and more lonely and seek interactions, even if they're just phone calls. I grew up with many friends in my neighborhood, but they all ended up moving away by the time I was in my teen years and the only friends I had up until recently were people online that I'd speak to almost every day. These days, I have a large circle of good friends in real life, so I m

I make myself laugh often, even all alone. I'll break into bits too just for myself.

I'm often alone, but almost never lonely. I do feel very isolated, if that makes sense as a different feeling.

I don't see a lot of people.
I don't care either way. My feelings don't belong to me. Whether I feel comfortable alone or not depends on the amount of stress and anxiety. I just use whatever mood is at hand based on my previous experience. I prefer being alone. But there isn't much of anything either way, so I'd be glad to have better social grounding to lay my hands on some money. But it's fine either way. Sun still rises every day, so long as I've got some food on my plate I'm fine.
I like spending time with family, but other than that I prefer to be alone. If I lived by myself, then I imagine I might get more lonely.

Merry Christmas. I'm an anon from 8chan, and we are organizing our inter-board Christmas event. This project aims to gather around anons from different imageboard and anonymous communities from all around internet during a weekend and celebrate Christmas together. The planned date is December 14 and 15 and it's going to be here https://8chan.moe/christmas you can make your "embassy" thread talking about your IB, its history and local memes.

I hope to see you there. If you have any other questions please make me know, I'll be more than grateful to answer.

It's certainly worse, such as it is. At least it has less influence than 8chan did when it got corrupted by the glownigger, so there's that at least.

Nah, it's far better than 8prime, to begin with, the source code is far better, it has better infrastructure and global moderation does care about small boards. And in regards of influence, it's growing slowly, pretty much everybody knows it's just a matter of time before 4chan fucks something up and it gets a migration at the same level of gamergate in 2014.
