60+ shows this season. They can't keep this up right? Either way, a ton of adaptions and sequels this season. Not many isekai from what I can tell. I think we're moving away from isekai and into the underdog/punished hero trend. This season is jam-packed with action but sadly little ecchi. Some shows that have caught my interest this season that aren't remakes or sequels.

>Kaijuu 8-gou (Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi)
https://anilist.co/anime/153288/Kaijuu-8gou/
<With the highest kaiju-emergence rates in the world, Japan is no stranger to attack by deadly monsters. Enter the Japan Defense Force, a military organization tasked with the neutralization of kaiju. Kafka Hibino, a kaiju-corpse cleanup man, has always dreamed of joining the force. But when he gets another shot at achieving his childhood dream, he undergoes an unexpected transformation. How can he fight kaiju now that he’s become one himself?!

Men beating the shit out of monsters using guns and fist with some quality animation behind it. I won't need much else as long as the characters can hold up.

>Sentai Daishikkaku (Action, Fantasy)
https://anilist.co/anime/158417/Sentai-Daishikkaku/
<When the Monster Army invaded Earth thirteen years ago, the Divine Dragon Rangers rose up to stop them! With the war raging on, these great heroes are mankind’s last hope! ...or are they? In truth, the invaders were subjugated within a year, forced to continue to crank out a monster a week for the Rangers to crush in front of their adoring fans! But one monster has had enough. Something has to change! He’ll rebel against the might of the Dragon Rangers and destroy them all...from the inside!

I'm getting so fucking sick of shows not finishing their fucking story that I'm reaching the point where I don't want to watch anything as it's running anymore. Rather just check things out later and only put my time into the fucking shows with enough respect for their audience to complete their fucking stories.

I'm surprised more people here aren't putting Freiren as their AoTS. Then again, it's not my favorite anime this season either. That would probably Under Ninja or Dark Gathering. Freiren is refreshing in the sense that we have a high quality slice of life adventure that isn't just action 24/7 or obvious comedic beats. I think it's something that will be timeless but that doesn't make it my favorite in terms of pure entertainment.

>>100168
Most anime exist to advertise the manga. If you're not going to read manga, then you should stick to anime that are originals and only go for manga adaptions that are finished.
Replies: >>100171

Frieren struck me as an SoL that will have some lingering plot but that it won't be solved within the 24 episodes and because of that I decided to skip it. I've seen videos of its animation and it looks pretty but it's still not something that makes me want to invest 24 episodes in.
>>100168
Anime originals are already rare as they are (I think there's about 2 worthwhile ones per season), there's no way they're going to do it but having anime original endings would be neat.

The Apothecary Diaries' Nekokurage Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion Charges
https://animecorner.me/the-apothecary-diaries-nekokurage-pleads-guilty-to-tax-evasion-charges/
>Nekokurage, one of The Apothecary Diaries manga artists, pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges on Friday during the first hearing at the Fukuoka District Court. The Fukuoka Regional Taxation Bureau announced on April 1 that Nekourage failed to declare around 260 million yen (~$1.7m) in income, with 47 million yen ($310k) subject to taxation between 2019 and 2021. Nekokurage, whose real name is Erika Ikeda, apologized when the information became public and admitted that she failed to pay her taxes out of ignorance and lack of education on the matter.

Yes, and how long did it take for Pedowood to get to that point?

In addition, how much money are those films making relative to their market? America is the wealthiest nation on the planet with the biggest market of consumers who have the most amount pocket change, so of course the films released by and for Americans make more money just by the simple fact that they're released by and for Americans. Remember that 100円 is equiavelent to around 65¢.

Also, you may think that a movie making over a billion dollars sounds like a "lot", but keep in mind how money movies are now doing that. And at the expense of their bottom line. Sure, Marvel and Star Wars encompass several of the "highest grossing" films in history, but at what cost when no one is reading the comics, no one is playing the games, and no one is buying the toys? This is in addition to the budgets for these movies being a third of a billion dollars, with a marketing to match (If not succeed) that amount, and you see these movies barely breaking even.

We are also ignoring how the overwhelimng majority of the films are sequels, remakes, or adaptations. Without adjusting for inflation, once you get past Avatar and Titanic, the next highest grossing "original" films to pass a billion a

Adding qualifications is irrelevant like that is irrelevant.
I've not heard of a movie that made over a billion dollars that was considered a flop. Yeah, the movies are more expensive to create and market now, but that doesn't really matter as long as they are still making profits.
>nobody is reading the comics
Comics cost almost nothing to produce by comparison and is a separate issue entirely, nobody gives a shit about comics anymore in general. (plus their quality is perceived as being in the gutter too)
>no one is playing the games
That's a separate issue and has more to do with perceived quality of said games. Marvel Rivals is doing quite well for example and its not looked at like hot shit. Iirc the soystation Spider Man games sold well too.
>no one is buying the toys
I have no idea about whatever the merchandise situation is, but I wouldn't be surprised. Live action movies are far less appealing to kids than animated stuff, and that extends to merchandise.

“Nobody reads manga anymore.” Veteran manga editor says there are fewer aspiring editors who are truly passionate about the medium

>Kazuaki Ishibashi, a manga author and editor best known for his editing work on Mob Psycho 100 and The World Only God Knows, published a lengthy X post/column about the state of his profession and the industry. While several aspiring manga editors he’s been meeting and training over the years have impressive credentials and communication skills, they read far less manga than what used to be the norm, he says.
<When it comes to training aspiring manga editors, I’m honestly quite baffled sometimes. It’s just that… they genuinely don’t read manga.
<I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve asked them, ‘Huh, then why do you even want to be a manga editor?’ In my mind, I’m furious.
<Of course, I want new manga artists to read manga, too. But editors? They absolutely have to read even more than artists do.
>He chalks it up to a change in environment. Back in the day, people were surrounded by manga on all sides, whether through bookshelves at home, friends and family’s houses, or bookstores, just to name a few examples. Now, however, he thinks the avenues have become more limited.
>While it is true that manga has never been more readily available, he notes that the lack readily available physical manga has contributed to people becoming more selective about what they read. He says that even digital platforms, whose algorithms only try to cater to the readers’ interests, area major cause in preventing them from broadening their horizons.
<Lately, the idea of being a manga editor has become kind of “trendy,” and the motivation of aspiring editors usually boils down to:
<‘I want to work in the entertainment industry.’‘
<I want to be involved with an IP’‘
<I want to support creators.’‘
<It just seems kind of fun.’
<There is nothing wrong with that.
<However, not many of them say things like:

What is the appeal of this confusing mess? For years I have tried to comprehend the enormous popularity of this franchise and it has always eluded me. It's not particularly well written, yet the anime industry seems willing to spend endless sums of cash adapting every possible route of a visual novel into any number of series and movies. Who is the audience for this, and what do they like about it so much?

It's about a 35 point IQ drop compared to here. There is frequent nigger ghetto babble that gets no pushback from other anons and there is no substantive discussion in any thread, every post is just memes, insults or variations of "imagine sex with X".

I miss the several years of most artists drawing Fate and Azur Lane girls instead of Blue Archive. Fate had the best gacha girl designs next to Kancolle.

Anyway I'm looking forward to Fate/Strange Fake. The ep0/movie made for an interesting start and I really want to see Waver meet up with Ishkander/Rider again. I wonder if Shirou and Rin will get involved in this incident too.

4chan now is Reddit's old userbase. 4chan's anons who cared about anonymity went to 8chan and were scattered post that collapse. So now there's no centralized place for smarter anons.

Being 35 IQ points higher than a 35 IQ still puts you in retard territory, don't pretend the webring is a shining beacon of intelligence when most of it is barely any better than 4chan.

You say this a lot anon. Perhaps you'd like to contribute to the discussion? Then it won't be so dead.

yeah the webring sucks, good thing there's lots of better small imageboards outside of it (and no I'm not talking about 8kun or 8moe, they're even worse)
