It has come to my attention that we don't have a wallpaper thread. Let's fix that.
>>4251 (OP) 1920x1080 is a good target resolution, like the BrawlersWorld ones, but older monitors were much smaller so a "large" image might have only been 1500 pixels wide.
Just use >>536
Nice selection. A lot of these look really cool. >>4263 Nah. This is specifically for high-resolution images that would look good with desktop clutter spread all over them.
Bliss, from a 600DPI scan of the film. Don't waste your time with 16:9 versions. the WTC wallpaper is one of my personal favorites.
>>4251 (OP) I love anything with warm lights.
>>4862 What is this? A wallpaper for ants?
>>4877 I had a tiny netbook back in the day that would have been perfect for. I do kind of miss it but everyone moved on to tablets and 'yoga' laptops for small screen browsing.
Does anyone know how or where to find photo wallpapers, at least 1600x1200px, that are NOT new? I want 1600x1200 wallpapers that are originally from the 90s or early 2000s but it's hard to find those apart from windows wallpaper collections.
>>4883 1. Go to archive.org 2. Go to the CD-ROM collection. 3. Search for "stock photography" or similar, you'll find plenty of discs with ultra high resolution photos.
>>4883 >>4884 If you are into video games, then you could also give a try to the archived CDs and DVDs that came with magazines, they usually had at least a few wallpapers.
Huge dump coming in.
Last one was a real pain in the neck to unearth. Its for a game that caused a ton of butthurt. Official one even. To company went defunct and not many places have the balls to host that anymore.
Found one of my old self made wallpapers.
Some paintings by Tamara de Lempicka. She one of the few more well known Art Deco painters. Her works are one the first things when some assholes markets something with Art Deco Aesthetics. Got these because of Bioshock.
One of the few animated wallpapers in the dump.
And with this the batch of retro wallpaper I have actually downloaded for future use is dumped completely. I had some other, but their resolution is not the best. The oldest ones are from spring 2008, which was exactly the time when 1080p became available to people with way too much money for a flat screen monitor. at the time, still had been using my old CRT monitor that I have autistically slapped full of stickers.
>>4895 Nice dump, Anon. Thanks!
>>4252 The most ubiquitous resolutions for mid 2000s was about 1024*800 or 1280*1024 if you went really crazy on CRT. The most common wide screen at the time was 1440*900 and 1600*1024. Latter once again if your really went crazy. Full HD wasn't as quickly adopted for Computer Desktops as in the living room where CRT TVs were dying like flies. Usually due to wear or simply incompatibility with HDMI which most media player and 6th gen consoles used for displaying sharper images. >>4908 Thanks.
