I was the opposite, first watched Akagi and read a bit of the Koizumi mahjong manga, then tried out the game.
Turns out I hate it, feels like chink poker for retards, with needlessly complicated rules and the initial investment in learning all the winning hands is absurd. And in the end you can get completely fucked over score wise because of one bad discard, whereas in poker you can only fuck yourself if you choose to go big with a shit hand. Too much rng, and player choices are extremely limited. What was a deal breaker was a few games I played where nobody assembled their winning hand, so in the end we were just picking and discarding tiles like retards, and only I was a retard there, everyone else actually knew how to play the game.
THAT SAID
I still think Akagi's an excellent anime. And everything else Fukumoto touched, I love his storytelling.
I still want that fate extra mahjong set though

Riichi mahjong is that one game that you can't explain without sounding like a schizo.
>A dora is a tile that's worth 1 han, and you can tell which one it is from the dead wall tiles that are flipped up, but that's not the valuable tile it's actually the one after that.
Also, the luck factor is tilting, but kind of like poker where you can fuck yourself if you go big and flop, in mahjong you can save yourself by throwing away what could've been a valid hand and playing only the safest tiles. You can also play fast low scoring hands instead of big slow hands to outpace someone who you know has a good hand from reading their discards. And Akagi is fucking great for adding so much spice to it.

Another annoyance, you build up your combo but are forced to drop it. Though I guess mahjong has one thing over Texas Hold'em poker, in that you can actually build your hand, whereas in poker what you get is what you get. I'll have to look into some poker variants that allow for hand building in a non-retarded way.

Have you read the minefield mahjong Kaiji part? I was wondering if something like it could work IRL.

I'm a Kaiji anime only fag, but now that I know the manga has a fucking mahjong part it's next after Akagi.

Then some time later you get like 16 volumes of Kaiji and 1 other guy playing One Poker, a game where you have 2 cards, pick one, and the higher one wins. Betting, raising, and folding works as normal.
And those 16 volumes of playing poker with 2 fckng cards are hype as hell and full of tension. It sounds bizarre when you say it, but yes, these 3 thousand manga pages of playing 2 card poker ARE kino.
After that there's finally a break from playing games, and it turns into a more "adventure" manga, and its also excellent.

Reiwa no Dara san is great. Frog mouthed snake is cute as fuck. And the author is clearly having fun with drawing her and everyone else in tons of different outfits. The fake anime, manga and video games from the background are a great read too.

Shiori is so fckng cute. And the manga as a whole is so well drawn.
My only issue is the nigger's presence, and the beginning where she said her dream was to become a bride and start a family, which later got changed into "starting a band and performing on live stage". We almost had some family propaganda, but now it feels almost like the opposite. If her initial "dream" was stated to be anything else, then this wouldn't even be a problem.

Is the Snowball Earth manga any good?  The animu seems interesting but I can't bear to watch 3D vomit.

Finished the Abenobashi Shopping Street anime.
If you're a masochistic beta male cuck you're gonna love this. Pic related is the whole show.
Otherwise stay away.
Imagine Inferno Cop, but each episode is full length. This was the first anime where I just skipped around or raised the speed to get it over faster. It was retarded, boring, "lol randumb humor" all the way through, and then it has the nerve to pretend to have some deeper message. Some people say the ending is shit. Nah, the whole thing is shit. It's tolerable for 2-3 episodes, after which it just repeats itself ad nauseam.
The main girl is an insufferable violent disrespectful bitch. Always yelling, whining and hitting the boy.
The main boy is a masochistic loser with zero self respect. Always the butt end of jokes, always getting hit, killed or humiliated in some way.
The main plot is literally an inter dimensional NTR plot with zero satisfying elements. The cuck is a cuck (through time and space), the guy who gets the girl doesn't even enjoy her, the girl has dreamy eyes for the fucker because... the plot demands it.
The hot girls, fanservice, or gainax style animation are not worth it, this anime is a frustrating waste of time. Probably the worst gainax thing I've seen.

Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan is apparently a pretty good loli anime.
Dara san is pretty unpopular and has a score well below 7... now I'm reminded why I stopped using that shite site.

I've noticed that too, budget getting wasted on absolute slop while interesting shows get stuck with 3DCG or are a couple steps above storyboards. I figure it's budget getting allocated based on sales of the source material when in theory it should be the opposite. Dogs eat dog food, as the saying goes.
